StoryLine 12/20: @Texsper and @SouthernSirenCW

*I could not have slept even if I had tried. It was better to spend the time packing and preparing to leave than tossing and turning through the night, disturbing @SouthernSirenCW. She was hurt and angry and once I sat before the fire with a scotch in my hand the ramifications of my utter need to assure @SouthernSirenCW was not harmed fell heavily on my chest. Despite what Charlie thought, I was no civilian. It may have been a while that I was out of the field, but it didn’t change the fact that I knew all too well the risks of a mission that held personal ties. No matter how good @SouthernSirenCW is at her job, she isn’t impervious to the hazards of a job too  close to you. In fact, I was livid her chain of command didn’t immediately recuse her. Letting the sweet burn of the scotch slide down my throat I scoff at the thought. With everything she has been through of late, there is no way that @SouthernSirenCW should be working the case that nearly got her husband killed, just after returning from work after losing her partner. ~

No, in my team, any one of us would have been sent to the bench. Of course we wouldn’t have liked it, but we would have trusted our team to make it right. Pouring another long shot of scotch I sit looking at the amber gold as I twirl it in the glass, the flames of the fire casting a lick of color against it. As I hear the car pull up to take us to the landing field and home, I throw the tumbler into the fire place and convince myself I was not wrong. It should not have had to be up to me to keep her from a mission too personal. If @SouthernSirenCW could not understand that then I was at a loss as to how to honor my vows to keep her safe, if even from herself. Holding the door to the car for @SouthernSirenCW, it was clear she still wasn’t ready to talk about it any further. The distance between us in the car and in the plane, crushing. I close my eyes and finally let sleep claim me as @SouthernSirenCW sits in silence reading.*

*Trying to concentrate on my book, this flight seeming to take forever as we flew home. I’d dozed for parts of it having not slept well the night before. @Texsper was still crashed out, he’d woken briefly to check where we were and then fallen quickly back into an exhausted stupor. I was grateful he had in fact, it gave me time to think and calm down. My anger had lessened over some aspects of what he’d done, but in others had flared higher. I hated to admit it, but @Texsper was correct in relation to it being personal and more than likely when I’d gotten back in the states, back in the job I would of been benched at least from being in the field working on it. My boss knew I was one of the better analysts, so would of let me be on desk duty for it, which would have chafed at me.

Realizing I’d reread the same page four times now, scowling at the book before tossing it aside into an empty seat and shifting my gaze over to @Texsper. The hurt settling into me all over again now that my distraction wasn’t working. I knew him, so I knew he was thinking it was all about not doing the job. But in that he was wrong. Yes, I was angry I wouldn’t be able to take down in any way the men that had almost taken @Texsper from me, even if I’d had not been able to be a major part of it. Taking or getting credit when his team had done the job rubbed me wrong. That whole mess could open a can of worms that would bite all of us, keeping a lid on the fact civilians, and in some cases military personnel went vigilante and did it on American soil. Would have enemies and the press salivating. Which raised my blood pressure just thinking about it. I knew @Texsper and his guys would cover their asses as best they could but my team and I would have to do some to explain and cover things.

Shaking my head, realizing my hands had clenched into fists when a cramp shoots through my palm. Slowly shaking them out, breathing deeply as I rise making my way to the small galley to grab a bottled water. Twisting it sharply, my eyes starting to sting as I hear the pilot over the speaker letting us know we were twenty minutes from landing. I hated this, the argument, distance between @Texsper and I. Sure we’d disagreed before, and had to adjust but never had we had this much hurt between us.

Grabbing an extra bottle and walking back to my seat, stopping to set the water next to @Texsper, knowing we’d both be ready for coffee when we landed. Nudging him* Jasper. *getting a small snuffling sound for my effort, raising my voice* @Texsper, baby time to wake up. *biting back the laugh as he wakes blurry eyed* We’ll be landing soon. *turning not saying another word as I retake my seat, sipping my water. I was surprised @Texsper hadn’t figured out where most of my anger and hurt was stemming from. Yes, I knew what I’d said and it was all true, but mostly the fact he took it upon himself to fix things he’d done all of this without discussing it with me. Picking lightly at the label, my expression pensive. My life partner, husband and best friend hadn’t thought enough of me to talk and plan together. I was feeling very inconsequential. It had me evaluating, did he not trust my judgment, what else would he question and possibly hide from me till it was /done/.

Feeling @Texsper’s eyes on me as I fastened my seatbelt, the planes decent not even bothering me for a change I was so wrapped up in my thoughts. I knew @Texsper loved me that wasn’t even a question, and I knew he’d done this out of that love. I just couldn’t see our marriage so new, and being built going this direction. We were going to have to have some serious talks, this wasn’t the way we worked, we talked, planned and were partners in all things, just because I had a ring on my finger didn’t mean I’d allow that to change. If the roles had been reversed….maybe that was how to say it. How would he have felt if I’d done…gone over his head without a word, hidden things. Startling as I hear my name called, @Texsper’s voice jerking me from my introspection. Glancing up and seeing him standing, becoming aware the plane wasn’t moving anymore, I unbuckle and quickly grab my hand bag. Making my way off the plane with only a small word of Thanks to @Texsper as his hand is at my elbow as we walk down the stairs to the pavement, the car there to drive us home.

Drawing in some fresh air before ducking inside the vehicle, sinking into the plush leather as @Texsper takes a seat next to me, turning from him not yet ready to talk. It felt good to be home, I had so much to do. Calling @NerdyEmmett, making sure things were ready for the Holiday party tomorrow. It would be so good to see everyone, I knew @Texsper would be on the phone to @TwinklyTwat to make sure they were coming over. Briefly rubbing my hand over my face as we pull up in front of the house, ready to get started, my hope being @Texsper and I could work through this soon.*

StoryLine 12/18: @Texsper and @SouthernSirenCW

*The phone vibrates in my pocket, I just smile at @SouthernSirenCW as she grins, sipping her wine. I have been drawn to that smile of hers since the first glimpse in that coffee shop. I hate breaking the perfect connection we are sharing but I have to check the text. Excusing myself I walk into the bath and lock the door behind me, pulling my phone out to read the text. A sigh of relief came flooding out as I read the words, It was over. The details were not that important right now somehow. What mattered is my men did what they always did best, they found them and the evidence needed to put them all away for good. The Ranch would be cleared of any involvement and Charlie would be credited with the arrests. Typing out a quick acknowledgement and sending the text I put the phone back in my pocket and  returned to @SouthernSirenCW and the nearly empty bottle of wine out on the deck overlooking the ocean.* Hey beautiful,  *wrapping my arms around your waist, pressing your body closer to the deck rail, my lips softly caress their way along your shoulder, I  close my eyes, swallow and take a deep breath praying you will forgive me for what I am about to tell you* This may be the hardest thing I ever have to tell you, @SouthernSirenCW and you are not going to like it, but I hope you will understand why I did it and forgive me for it eventually. Just remember I love you more than anything. It is over @SouthernSirenCW, You should be receiving confirmation from your guys any minute now. Those buddies of mine, that came to the wedding @SouthernsirenCW, they are delivering the culprits and the evidence to your team right now. I am sorry @SouthernSirenCW, but I couldn’t stand the thought of you in danger because of me, the Ranch.

*Watching @Texsper head inside to answer the text, my grin slipping slightly at the intrusion, knowing our longer then planned stay is coming to an end. Swirling the wine in my glass absently as I raise it, taking a sip, the smooth flavor washing over my taste buds as I turn back to the view, braced agains the deck railing. Biting my lower lip as I think over how @Texsper was able to talk me into staying two months versus the two weeks or so that was planned. @Texsper buying the island certainly helped his request, though I was in some ways all to happy, seeing @Texsper recuperating. The inherent strength and stamina coming back to him as we played and relaxed in the warm paradise. A soft sound alerting me to @Texsper’s return, leaning back into your chest as you press close, the cradle of your arms my haven as always, making a soft humming sound as @Texsper’s lips move over my shoulder. Unaware of the cliff we’re about to step off of. Softly smiling at your first sentence, a snort almost escaping at the thought of being so upset as to not forg…my mind going blank the slow seeping of your words, a trickle into my ears as I consciously work to understand this unexpected puzzle. My body reacting before I even have all the pieces in place, stiffening in @Texsper’s arms, my spine snapping straight and jaw clenching. Breathing raggedly as I whisper* Please tell me I didn’t hear you right, @Texsper? Please…

*Feeling the first signs of the tension growing between us, the stiffening of your muscles, the sound of your teeth grinding with the clenching of your jaw. Almost unconsciously, my hold on you tightens, the fear building deep in my chest. The thought of losing you enough to make my stomach lurch.* @SouthernSirenCW please, please I wont lose you, I can’t. *The hurt in your pleas cutting me to the quick.*

*drawing in a succession of breaths and counting to ten, clamping down on my temper, the fear in @Texpser’s voice registering and in some ways amping my anger up. Speaking harshly as the full scope of what’s happened hits me* Lose me? Do you have any idea…*trailing off my words choking up behind the lump forming in my throat* Do you not remember me asking you to keep your piece on you, @Texsper.  Practically begging you to do so? Trying to hand you one of mine…*unconsciously shaking my head, my whole form starting to vibrate in @Texpser’s tight hold*

*Somehow I seem to think holding you tight, caught between my body and the rail will keep you with me, knowing that your physical presence is nothing without your heart and mind. I loosen my death grip* @SouthernSirenCW you were right then, I should have never walked out of the house unarmed. It almost cost us everything. @SouthernSirenCW, but this time I am right. I know you are amazing at what you do. I also know you. *turning you in my arms to face each other, I look into your eyes, a vast ocean now separating us inside them* This is personal. It wouldn’t be like every other case, not to you and not to them. You know as well as I when it is personal it is too risky.

*tilting my jaw up, eyes locked on @Texsper’s as I set my wine glass down. Knowing a snapped stem and cut hand are not needed at the moment* You’re wrong, @Texsper. First you have no clue, none. I had to sit and listen while you were shot, unable to do anything. Your  gasping breaths, going silent with my name being the last on your lips, all of that is in here. *thumping my fist to my chest over my heart* And in here. *raising my hand to my head, tugging my hair my head shaking back and forth* One more nightmare to add to the slew of others I have running rampant in my psyche. *pulling out of your arms to turn, pacing across the stone deck my back to you* You’ve undermined my authority with my men, questioned my competency in my job, *hands fisting tight, the sting of my nails digging into the skin of my palms* and in my own judgement of who I am. I understand not wanting to lose me, but you also hid things from me, @Texsper *spinning around to face you, unaware of the tears of hurt and anger giving my eyes a wet sheen* I understand fear of loss, believe me I do and you /know/ that so please @Texsper…explain how you still came to this conclusion. That the result would be worth it. Fear cannot stop you from living, we both know this. You helped me to remember that, @Texsper.

*Guilt envelopes me, a suffocating hold rising up around me. If I had just kept that gun tucked into my waistband. I know that wouldn’t have been a guarantee, that the likelihood was I wouldn’t have endured just one shot. I know the only reason I lived was being unarmed, but now is not the time to dredge that up. Struggling to find a way to tell @SouthernSirenCW that I never intended to insult her I just can’t help thinking about what I would have done had it been her lying there, not knowing if she would live or die. That is exactly the thinking that made having my team come in sound like such a good idea.* You are right Charlie, I didn’t think about the result, I was too busy thinking I couldn’t bear to have the same assholes that shot me get anywhere near you, I couldn’t think of anything but what you must have went through watching me lay there, and not knowing. I couldn’t bare to face that if it happened because of me, the Ranch. *the need to wipe @SouthernSirenCW tears overwhelms me, I lift my hand to reach up and the look of hurt and anger stops me. Dropping my hand I turn away from @SouthernSirenCW, looking out over the view that seems to have lost its magnificence*

*tightening my fist, turning my eyes from @Texsper’s back* Jasper…you know this is my job. Whether it’s your ranch or somewhere else the potential for injury is high. I….*swallowing thickly my throat constricting with each harsh memory, the words and distance between us painful* you’ve seen my scars, you know the ones that landed me back on @NerdyEmmett’s door step. *reaching up to wipe my hand over my face, my anger surging again* You encouraged me to go back to work, you married me knowing I was a federal agent, @Texsper. Did you think I was going to sit at some desk and look pretty, Jasper? *scoffing at the thought*

*An unrepentant grin at the thought of you being a mere poster girl quickly flashes before I can squelch it* No @SouthernSirenCW, don’t. going back to work was what you wanted and needed and you are exceptional at your job. I would never do anything but encourage you. But do you have any fucking idea just how hard it is to know you are always in danger? *my voice raises unintentionally, I can hear it shaking in the terror that comes with the thoughts.* I can’t bear to lose you, I can’t bear to go through what you went through, I am not as strong as you are @SouthernSirenCW. I know how angry you are now. *hating what I have done* Please tell me you will come to forgive me. @SouthernSirenCW
*striding forward, grabbing @Texsper’s shoulder and tugging you around to face me, blood boiling at the shrill sound of the phone going off just inside the door.* Fucking idea? *blinking in disbelief, my eyes sweeping over your face as my voice rises, meeting the volume of your own* How could you think I wouldn’t? *the tremble in @Texsper’s voice and fear in in your eyes the only thing holding me in check from exploding fully* What makes you think I am stronger, or I could bear to lose you, @Texsper. *my arms wrapping around my middle as I stagger back from you, the abyss of pain I’d faced when you’d been shot, still there, buried in my mind* Jasper I..just give me space. If it was only anger it would be easier. *feeling my tears finally spill over, wetting my cheeks, turning into the house, holding myself together by a thread* Don’t we have a plane to catch for the holidays, @Texsper? I’m ready to go home now, please.

Alright @SouthernSirenCW, I will call for the plane, we won’t be able to leave until morning. We still have to pack and *trailing off, I shake my head* Charlie, I love you, no matter what, I love you. *walking away to the privacy of the office to call, I can’t help the tears that well and begin to fall with the realization of just how badly I have screwed up.*

*turning enough to catch a glimpse of @Texsper’s back as he walked into the office, voice but a whisper of air* I love you too. *sniffing away the tears, my anger warring with my hurt as I spy the phone on the table. Moving towards the bedroom, knowing I need to start packing*

StoryLine 11/19: @Texsper and @SouthernSirenCW

*sliding from our bed, my gaze drifting over @Texsper’s sleeping form as I quietly move across the room. Snagging my robe up, slipping it on and loosely tying it as I step out onto the balcony. The starry sky seeming to go on in unending sweeps, reflecting down onto the ocean below. Sighing, leaning forward against the railing, eyes falling shut as the warm breeze caresses over my skin. Whispering low* I wish… *letting my words trail off, giving my head a firm shake to dispel thoughts of the impossible. To much needed doing and for that we would need to head home soon. This heaven, our oasis away from all the problems and stress facing us at home would come to an end soon enough.*

*Tracing the pad of my finger over the stone it was resting against, smiling as I remember the plane ride here. Curling up into @Texsper’s side, I realized maybe, finally I was getting a little used to the luxury of having our own plane on hand. Remembering the soft laugh of disbelief leaving me, causing @Texsper to give me a raised brow and curious look. Knowing I’d never admit those thoughts to him, then or now I had hurriedly brought up the subject of his friends showing up for the wedding, they had been an unexpected but happy surprise. Frowning as my mind is brought back to the present, recalling @Texsper’s face, his eyes, there was something he wasn’t telling me. I hadn’t pushed, so much had happened I knew we both needed to leave things behind for that small window of time we had.*

*A dip in the bed brings me from the light doze I had been lulled into by the sound of water washing over the beach, the faint smell of @SouthernSirenCW’s perfume and the incredible lovemaking of the early morning. My eyes closed, still breathing lightly I let her get up and listen to her soft footfalls make their way to the balcony, the faint rustling of silk wrapping around her body. @SourthernSirenCW whispers and I feel my chest tighten. Married not quite a month and my wife is wishing for something I am not giving her. I swallow hard and fight the guilt of not sharing my friends true purpose for being at the ranch.*

*Leaning forward, the stone biting into my abdomen as I take in the gorgeous view. Moon just starting to reflect off the water, the sound of the whitecaps hitting the rocks below, the whisper of it moving over the sandy beach close by creating a crescendo I’d miss when back in the states. The peace and slow atmosphere lending to the tranquility I thought was far gone from our lives, worry over my husband safety and well being was eased here. No threats looming around corners and guns aiming for @Texsper*

*Maybe I should tell her, maybe my wife will understand, but I know @SouthernSirenCW the FBI AIC will not, she will be furious, I just know I will not let anything happen to her and she can’t lose anyone else in her life. My team handles this, it is what they do, what we always did. Even if she is angry, at least she is alive and her team is whole. I turn onto my side and close my eyes again, wishing it didn’t have to be this way, secrets creeping into our marriage from its first day.*

*Giving a quick glance over my shoulder, hearing the sheets rustle, the sound of skin whispering over the luxurious cotton not wanting @Texsper awake. The beginnings of an internal argument forming, thinking about pulling out my files. I’d left them untouched, packed away for the the entire length of time we had been here. Hadn’t even wanted or tried to check my emails The only contact was a few messages coming in on the Sat phone, feeling my temper grow at just the remembrance of those calls. The guide I had placed with @NerdyEmmett and @Wren_Hammonds calling me to let me know they had taken off on their own. Bear and I would be having words. To have our last real conversation be that awful argument. If anything happened to him..I’d..I don’t even know what I’d do. Something in me would break and never heal. In some ways, it was happening with him not calling. He’d never done this and I didn’t understand, this proclivity of his now, he always shared with me and I him. Blinking rapidly as my sight blurs, my hand lifting to brush over my cheeks not wanting to cry over this again, I scramble for my justified anger, pushing the hurt away. as much as I could. Biting my lower lip to keep the any sounds from escaping, aided by the breeze and ocean rolling below*

*Lying still, realizing @SouthernSirenCW needed her space right now, I wondered how much things with @NerdyEmmett were bothering her. It was certainly odd that he wasn’t respecting his sister’s wishes and her attempts to keep him safe. I know it was hard to have a sister, someone you feel responsible to protect, that protects you instead. Hell, it was hard for me to get used to as well, my firecracker of a wife. I had never been accustomed to someone else taking care of me the way @SouthernSirenCW does. Sure my parents as a child, my team has always had my back, but this, this was different. Maybe I should call @NerdyEmmett, talk to him.*

*I didn’t want @Texsper up and seeing me upset. We’d already had that conversation, the one where I asked him to let me handle it, I still don’t believe his nod of agreement. He wouldn’t be happy with me out here crying on my own, he’d expect me to turn to him and rightly so. Normally I would without hesitation, with this…I was actually a bit worried for @NerdyEmmett, if he thought I hit hard*

*Dragging in a few deep breathes smacking my hand against my thigh. I had to much to do to have a pity party now, turning sharply back into the room, grabbing the bag sitting the corner. My briefcase carrying all I needed to do a quick check on things back home. Those that had shot @Texsper were still on the loose and I wanted…. no needed them found. Flipping open my laptop, firing it up, pulling out a few of the files to glance over as I waited for it to boot my impatience growing*

@Texsper

*Hearing the laptop power up and @SouthernSirenCW’s fingers flying over the keyboard, I let my mind wander not knowing how far this is going to go. This rift that is wedging its way between us can not destroy us. I won’t let it. Laying, letting my chest rise and fall, knowing @SouthernSirenCW needs to do this on her own. If I didn’t let her, she’d just be angry with me on top of everything else.*

*Leaning back in my chair doing a quick check on @Texsper, seeing he was still asleep, watching the slow rise and fall of his back for a moment. Turning back to the screen, pulling up the browser I needed and Bureau’s internal email. Grateful even out here we had WiFi. Typing out a quick message, requesting current status and files to be sent encrypted and via secured lines. Knowing that should do it, the information would most likely be in my inbox in the morning. Sending a email to @TwinklyTwat while I was on here. “Dear Chel, we are having a lovely time. Thank you again and see you when we get home. Love Charlie and @Texsper ” Hitting send, shutting everything down and lifting to put it all in the bag again. Lowering it back to the table slowly, eyes moving to and from the bedroom doorway down to the files. Reaching up to run my fingers through my hair, pushing it aside as the thoughts intrude, of @Texsper thinking I was hiding things, leaning back on the lounge exhausted suddenly.

*Hating that I’d felt the need to do this, but also knowing I had too, I needed to know and @Texsper… I already knew was going to be stubborn. If I was back in the field, then I was hitting it running especially with this case being about him. Our home, what would always be @Texsper’s home base needed to be safe for everyone. I knew the edginess would have to be worked through and at this point I wasn’t sure if it was him being shot or the job looming in front of me. Rubbing a hand over my eyes, rising to my feet feeling drained as I walk over to stand in the bedroom doorway, the large bed and @Texsper’s form inviting..yet I can’t..needing a few moments of that tranquility back, the peace I shattered by peeking towards reality that was bearing down on us like a freight train*

*Hearing @SouthernSirenCW walk back onto the balcony, I stir and finally after several long minutes of silence swing my legs over the side of the bed, stand and walk out to @SouthernSirenCW, wrapping my arms around your waist, my lips trailing along your neck, judging the fabric down kissing your shoulder* The view is nearly as beautiful as you. Do you like it here @SouthernSirenCW?

*So focused on the lull of the waves, the first indication I’m not alone the heat coming off @Texsper seconds before your touch. My whole being relaxing instantly, unconsciously tilting my head giving @Texsper better access to my neck as my back molds into the warm safe haven of @Texsper ‘s chest, humming softly eyes closing* Flatterer. *laughing quietly* Yes, I love it here @Texsper *sliding my hands over your forearms, feeling the muscles flex under my fingertips* Do you, @Texsper?

Mmm, *kissing lightly along your neck, now tilted giving me better access* I love being here with you @SouthernSirenCW. *I whisper into your ear, letting my teeth skim the lobe playfully, wrapping my arms tighter around @SouthernSirenCW waist, pressing my chest against you and resting my chin on your shoulder.* The waves lulled me to sleep, guess you couldn’t resist coming out to enjoy them @SouthernSirenCW?

*shivering under you the touch* Mm, it’s all the exposed skin, all the time isn’t it @Texsper *smiling as I rub my cheek against yours, my tone playful and teasing. Turning my head slightly to kiss the corner of @Texsper lips, my body tensing briefly at your assumption, wetting my lips* I…no baby, I couldn’t. *swallowing thickly, my guilt growing as I nip your jaw, wanting to distract us both* @Texsper I wish we could stay. This paradise makes me not want to go home. *pressing closer, breathing you in and pushing all else away*

*chuckles into your hair, wondering if this is the right time* I know what you mean babe. I do have to say, honeymooning with you has to be one of my favorite things and yeah the clothing optional doesn’t hurt @SouthernSirenCW, but honestly, I am glad you like it here @SouthernSirenCW. *twisting my hand in your hair, kissing at the flesh revealed* We now have a reason to come back whenever we want to @SouthernSirenCW. *The broad smile spreads hidden in your hair*

*grinning, loving the relaxed tone of your voice, biting back an ever present moan at the tug on my hair. @Texsper words slowly filtering in, freezing in place as I add up what I know of you and your words, matching them quickly* You…*croaking out lowly, having to clear my throat* You didn’t, @Texsper *trying to turn to face you, your hold tightening* Jasper…tell me you didn’t do what I’m thinking you did. *small buzz of excitement running through me, squashing it as I think f the excessiveness of it*

*kissing the back of your head, laughing as you attempt to break my hold around you* What? *grinning at the way your voice cracks and that little hint of excitement that you try to quash, just a little too late, I already heard it* What do you think I did @SouthernSirenCW ? Hmmm? *distracting you, my hand moving lower down your abdomen*

*blowing a breath out, trying to ignore your seeking fingers as they go exploring* You know what I am thinking, @Texsper. *sliding my hand back to run my palm up the outside of your thigh, rolling my hips into yours* Distraction won’t work @Texsper *the silk of my robe the only thing between us* You know exactly what I think, @Texsper *biting my lip on a low moan*

*The day spent snorkeling and horseback riding along the beach must have worn @SouthernSirenCW out.  All the time she spent worrying about me and caring for me, planning our wedding had her exhausted. It was good to see her finally sleep soundly. It felt like she was sleeping with one eye on me since the shooting. Standing at the side of the bed, a soft smile on my lips I watch @SouthernSirenCW rhythmic breathing. The vibrating of my cell on the nightstand draws my attention. Picking it up, checking the text II close my eyes, chin dropping to my chest I exhale. Composing a reply, Thank you, keep me informed and be careful. I hit send and quietly put the phone down, slipping back into bed, against @SouthernSirenCW ‘s back, my arm draped over her waist. I kiss softly along the nape of @SouthernSirenCW neck and close my eyes.*

10/19/12: Wedding Part 1

*having stepped out of the shower, drying off slowly the stray drops trickling down my back from my hair, my mind going over the list of things for today and ticking items off as I bend over. Winding the towel around my hair before standing and slipping my robe on, walking into the bedroom, a quick glance at the clock and gasp for air as I make a mad dash out of the room. Running for the kitchen and cup of coffee* #Mary? *holding onto the banister, one hand flying up to catch my towel from falling, skidding around the corner to find her grinning at me with a cup already poured and in hand* I…*laughs* Thank you. *taking the cup from her as she tells me to scoot back upstairs* Yes, Ma’am. *taking a sip, the warm liquid soothing as I turn, making my way back to the room I was using for this morning.*

*Walking over to the barn, taking the reins from Tom, giving him a small smile, knowing he knows what is going through my mind today. I put my boot into the stirrup and swing my leg over mounting the saddle, clicking my tongue as my old buddy heads out.  Pulling the reins left he starts us down the old worn down path, seldom used these days. One last talk before I say I Do. I always felt better when I kept them in the loop of what has become my life. I chuckle realizing my old loyal mount knew precisely where we were headed within a few feet of the old path. I drop the reins and let him take the lead.*

That’s right boy, let’s go see Mom and Dad. *sipping my coffee from the travel mug Mary had filled when I finished the breakfast I knew @SouthernSirenCW had arranged, I looked over the Ranch and averted my eyes from the Old Oak Tree until I swallowed back the emotions welling up at what I was about to do.* Easy boy we are almost there. *He was picking up on my nervous disposition this morning and whinnied throwing his head back. I eased him on, pulling myself together, looking straight at the headstones, shaded by the Oak as old as my family line. Dismounting, taking another sip of coffee.*

Lot has happened since I was last here. *nervous chuckle, no matter how long they were gone I still hated the thought of worrying them.* I am sure you already know and are probably responsible somehow or another for me being okay and here today instead of resting next to you. I got myself shot, seems we had some undesirables using the Ranch for illegal purposes, Charlie is bound and determined to catch them, so you may want to let the big guy know they are going down. Anyway, today is the day.

@SouthernSirenCW and I are finally getting married. I just wish you had been able to meet her. I know you would love her almost as much as I do. Well, I just wanted to say hi and make sure you keep your eyes on the pasture today. I love you both and miss you. *whistling, my ride strolling over, I grab the reins and hop on, letting him start the ride back. I needed to hurry if I was going to be ready on time. @SouthernSirenCW would shoot me herself if I was late for our wedding. Nudging my heel into his belly I took over and we trotted the rest of the way back to the barn where I left him in good hands and took some ribbing from some of the guys. My chest only hurt a little after the slight exertion. Time to shower and shave. A big grin stretched my face as I think about @SouthernSirenCW.*

Walking back over to my desk and grabbing up my cup of coffee with robes in hand, I take one last sip. I had always wondered what had become of them after signing off on the estate. It had seemed like years and maybe that was the case with my memory. Chuckling to myself, I look down at the address to see where the wedding is.* Well that explains it for @SouthernSirenCW. *I knew who @Texsper was, just by word of mouth. Setting my coffee cup down, I headed out of the office.* Glad I wore a tie today.

-Pulling out of the parking lot with Shiloh barking away in the back seat, I reach over and lace my fingers with @Wren_Hammonds’, giving it a gentle squeeze.- #Raymond will meet us at the reception.

*finishing up the last touches on my face, the soft bristles of the brush gliding over my skin, setting it down slowly, my eyes locked on those in the mirror, wishing…swallowing thickly not letting myself go there as I shove away from the counter, letting my hair down from the towel, knowing my emotions will get the best of me when @NerdyEmmett gets here. Drawing in a shuddering breath* Happy day, Charlie. Think about why you’re doing what you are. *just that, the instant thought of @Texsper and what today was had a smile blooming across my face. Stepping back to the mirror, brushing my hair back and twisting into a chignon, turning to walk into the closet. Slowly dressing, enjoying the soft glide of silk and lace over my skin. Twisting to pick up the last layer before my dress, a light slip stepping into it with ease and slipping it up into place. Snagging my robe back up and slipping it on. Listening to hear if anyone has arrived yet, hearing the small movements, I walk back over and pick up my quickly cooling coffee*

*Starting up the beast of a truck that I had restored, ‘74 Chevy, I pull out of the lot and head out towards @Texsper’s ranch*

-Pulling up to @Texsper’s and shutting the car off, I lean over and gently kiss @Wren_Hammonds cheek before sliding out of the car. Walking around and opening @Wren_Hammonds door, I grab the gifts off her lap and help her out of the car. Reaching for the back door, I open it and Shiloh bounds out staying close to me and @Wren_Hammonds.- Come on, lets go see @SouthernSirenCW. -Walking up the stairs with Shiloh barking on my heels, I ring the doorbell and wait for a frazzled @SouthernSirenCW to answer.-

-opening the door and grinning when I hear @SouthernSirenCW yell, I lean down and tell Shiloh to stay and watch him pad his way to the end of the porch before letting @Wren_Hammonds in before me. I set the gifts down on the table in the foyer. Kissing @Wren_Hammonds softly and muttering against her lips- I’ll be right back. -Heading upstairs and seeing @SouthernSirenCW disappear into a room, I follow and knock lightly on the door frame.-

*Rolling down my window at the man on the horse who introduces himself as #Tom, he states that I need to follow him. Nodding, I lightly press on the gas.*

*tightening the sash on my robe, hearing @NerdyEmmett come up the stairs, nerves not just from today but…the fact we hadn’t really spoken since our argument, that awful fight at the hospital. Knowing none of it mattered, he’d always be here, be my Bear. *turning to the door as I call for @NerdyEmmett to come in, tears already pricking my eyes*

Tucking the box in my jacket pocket I sneak quickly over to @TwinklyTwat’s room to see if she needs any help before it is time to head to the ceremony site.*

I pick up @BabyTwinkly kissing her forehead. Taking her to look out the window while @TwinklyTwat finishes getting ready, laughing as she says it is safe to open my eyes. I have something I would like to give you @TwinklyTwat, *shifting @BabyTwinkly to one arm, I reach into my jacket and pull out the box and note* @TwinklyTwat I am so grateful to you for always being there for me and accepting @SouthernSirenCW with open arms. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see you @TwinklyTwat and @SouthernSirenCW have grown so close. I appreciate you coming to support us today @TwinklyTwat and we just want you to have this as a token of our appreciation for today, for everything. *Grinning up, drawing it out*

*running my fingers through my hair, sighing softly relieved to finally be home. Shaking my head at the thought of @Texsper, I had warned him the trip home wouldn’t be a picnic, and I was right even with the doctor loading him up with pain medication. Grumpy was in full force till we hit the driveway of the ranch, I was grateful Tom had come in to pick us up. It left me able to help @Texsper. Peeking through the doorway of sun room, seeing @Texsper was slightly dozing on the lounge as he had refused bed, too excited with @TwinklyTwat ‘s flight landing. Turning into the kitchen to get some drinks ready, knowing the truck I had sent to pick up her and the baby should be getting back soon.*

*Stepping off the plane, @BabyTwinkly gripping tightly on to me as she had the whole flight, trying to soothe her with silly nursery rhymes and made up songs* It’s ok @BabyTwinkly, we’re here *shushing her as I rock my arms, persuading her to look up and see we’ve finally landed. Waiting by the side of the truck as my luggage is packed in, my offer to help having been turned down. I wait a few minutes, letting Butch run around before whistling him over and sliding into the truck, patting the seat until he jumps up. Sighing with relief when @BabyTwinkly releases her tight grip on me and listens to her babbling to the dog* Oh, look LJ *turning her in my arms and pointing out the window to show her @Texsper’s and @SouthernSirenCW’s house in the distance. Quickly approaching, I scan the area, grinning wide once I spot @SouthernSirenCW waiting for us* See @BabyTwinkly it’s aunty Char *barely waiting for the truck to stop before pushing open the door and clambering out, waving @SouthernSirenCW*

*Taking my fifth stroll up and down the hall this morning, finally in jeans and a tee shirt, ticked off that slippers are the only footwear in sight I mutter* Would a pair of boots or some shoes kill someone. Charlie did this on purpose knowing I won’t walk out the door in freaking slippers. I should though. Just to prove I would. I am not staying another night. Ridiculous. *glaring at the giggling nurse, failing to hide behind her ever ready patient chart as she walks down the hall.* It isn’t funny ya’ know. *Walking back to the room, barely broken a sweat, I take up residence in the recliner @SouthernSirenCW has been camped out in for ages it seems. Refusing to go back into the bed. I don’t even have my damn cell. @SouthernSirenCW knows me a little to damn well.* Damn it all to well, I want to go home. *I yell out to nobody in particular and flip on the television, channel surfing the bs selection.* If I buy cable for the entire hospital maybe they’d let me out of here.* Carol!!!! Carol!!!!! *calling out to the nurse, grinning as she comes running in.* Call the doc. I want out of here, today. No excuses. *I raised my brow as she opened her mouth, thought better of it and turned on her absurd clogs and left*

Listening as the doctor goes over a few things before exiting the room, lifting the bag filled with your clothing and shoes out, my fingers snagging the one thing I had printed out just this morning before you woke. Turning to drop the bag in your lap, setting the small square of paper on top with a small lift of my brow* You think I didn’t want you home,  @Texsper ?

*Holding tight to the IV pole, my feet feeling a little less like bricks today, I walk the length of the hallway, determined to gain enough strength to get out of here. I wanted to surprise @SouthernSirenCW so every time she stepped out I walked. The nurse had stopped insisting that she had to help me now and truthfully, I felt stronger than the first few tries. I kept pushing further each walk and added more frequency. @SouthernSirenCW was up to something, that much I knew, she was suddenly preoccupied on the phone a lot and needing to step out. But she was smiling like a kid in a candy store, so I left it be. I just worried about me getting out of here*

*standing slowly, being careful not to make any noise as I peek over at @Texsper, making sure I hadn’t woken him. A soft smile forming at his relaxed sleeping face. Turning to the closet and easing open the door to grab my laptop out, taking a seat at the table. Wanting to finish up the invitations and get them sent out. Twisting to grab my phone off the chair behind me, dialing Mary and speaking in hushed tones, as I power up the computer, eyes flicking to @Texsper every so often * Hello Mary.

*grinning at her enthusiastic greeting, her cheerfulness infectious* Yes, he loved the lunch you made, very happy to finally be getting real food as he calls it. *laughing as she rambles on about her @Texsper needing proper nourishment, putting on my headset as I lay my phone down. The soft snuffle, snore telling me Jasper was still asleep. Bringing up the files I need, and my email* Yes Mary, I’m checking it now. Mmm, Oh this menu looks wonderful. Perfect mix, I don’t want to formal. Did you get the email on the invitations? What did you think?

*nodding, making a small humming sound as I scroll through the emails from work knowing I’d look at them later. Finding the one I needed, opening it scanning quickly, unable to hold in my small squeal of delight* I love them. *cringing at ruffling of bedsheets, my eyes swinging towards @Texsper , whispering low as I hear Mary laughing like a loon on the other end* Not funny almost woke him up, the surprise would have been gone.

Love Charlie.” *hitting send after attaching the invite  …….., pulling up @TwinklyTwat email, and doing the same. “Dear Chel, I know @Texsper already asked. Can’t wait to wait to see you Gorgeous. Love Charlie.”

Knowing Mary would handle the rest* Yes, Mary just finished up. *closing the email, and opening my file with all my final choices* Are you sure? *frowning slightly, deleting some of the things I’d ruled out already. Shaking my head* No… *wrinkling my nose* No, not that much orange, more bronzes and yellows. Don’t let Tom pick, please.
